My name is Leanne and I am the Reflexologists at Steel Physiotherapy. I qualified in 2016 in Gaia School of Natural Health with a Level 3 in Reflexology as well as in Anatomy and Physiology. I have been fortunate to practice in a variety of settings since where I have been able to develop my skills. Since my initial qualification in 2016, I have taken regular CPD courses so that I am more comfortable and confident to treat individuals with a wider range of issues. In particular my areas of interest are of follows:

·      Reflexology Lymphatic Drainage,

·      Nerve and Spinal Reflexology,

·      Finger Free Reflexology,

·      Using reflexology with children and young people,

·      Enhancing Fertility and Maternity Reflexology,

·      Understanding Cancer and the Patients Journey.

I am a member of the Association of Reflexologists.

What is Reflexology?

Reflexology is an increasingly popular and relaxing holistic treatment that is based on the principle that reflex points on the foot are connected to corresponding areas in the body. In this way, the feet can be seen a ‘map’ of the body.

As a Reflexologist, I would work on the reflexes on the foot using a variety of specialised techniques to help correct imbalances and aid your body in it’s natural healing process.

Benefits of Reflexology:

·      Reduce stress;

·      Feelings of deep relaxation;

·      Increased energy levels;

·      Improved circulation;

·      More efficient removal of toxins and impurities;

·      Improved immune system;

What happens during a treatment?

Prior to a treatment, a consultation will be carried out and a detailed medical history will be taken to ensure reflexology is right for you. Once informed consent has been given, we will be ready to start the treatment. Usually, a treatment lasts approx 1 hour and you would only be required to remove your shoes or socks. You’ll be invited to relax on a reclining chair or treatment bed. Your feet will be cleansed at the start of the treatment and the techniques used will be adapted to suit the individual needs.

After your treatment

To gain maximum benefit from your treatment, it is recommended that you drink plenty of water following the treatment as it helps the body eliminate any toxins.
